First contacts with martial arts Already as a kid he was excited about fighting sport. In elementary school he was a fan of American pro wrestling as well as Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee films. In high school he attended his first boxing lessons, but as he says, he only started to take the training seriously in his twenties. Soon a successful competitor He has been dedicated to diverse fighting stiles ever since. His first discipline was kickboxing and soon he began competing, first in semi and light contact and later also in full contact. As he wanted more, he soon began training also English boxing. He competed in that too, mostly in the more technically oriented matches – review fights. The results were not long in coming – Sašo wan the titles of national champion in kickboxing and boxing. The success was mostly due to his personal enthusiasm and dedication. He was also successful in the preparation and participation at the World University Boxing Championship. |

Sašo as the head of the club
His love for fighting sports soon led him to establish his own club. He started as a kickboxing instructor with special emphasis on manual techniques. He was one of the first trainers in Slovenia to teach savate and to this day he advocates the combination of these three disciplines. Lately the club has also included MMA trainings. With time Sašo successfully built a team of trainers and assistants, which was necessary due to increased demand for trainings. As the head of the club he also takes care of the organisation. And all this work notwithstanding, Sašo still remains a successful competitor. In his own words: “It has all grown into much more than mere training. Improving yourself while also teaching others demands a lot of time and energy. But I view the leading of the club and the team as a challenge.”
Training work
Without hard work in the gym there would be no club. Thus, each year Sašo spends hours and hours training his groups. He dedicates his time to both skilled competitors who already win medals abroad as well as beginners who meet with martial arts for the first time. With his dedication he is a role model for everyone. He is completely committed to fighting sports and cherishes every good punch, every new technique, every successful action during the sparring. And all the hard work on jump ropes, punching bags, focus pads and sparring pays off with satisfied students and successful competitors.
Everybody is welcome to the club
Sašo's vision of the club's work is fairly simple: to focus on fighting sports, everything else is beside the point. Thus everybody who likes martial arts is welcome to join the club. In order to satisfy diverse interests, each year different groups are formed. Regardless of the level of knowledge or fighting preferences, every member must abide to certain guidelines. In Sašo's words: “Respect for your opponent is a must in our club. We promote an attitude of comradeship from the get-go and all our members accept it.” I believe that anyone at least a little bit interested in martial arts should try training them. And the first impression is definitely made by the instructor who needs to appropriately present the martial art.
Future plans
As the club leader Sašo wishes that the members would continue to feel good in training, develop their potentials and compete with success. He helps meeting this goal with his team of trainers and the choice of trainings.
